Bright ruby-red. Knockout nose combines kirsch, licorice and minerals; this, too, has a liqueur-like aspect but retains freshness and lift. Sweet but tangy in the mouth, with firm minerality and stony character giving the dark fruit and violet flavors terrific lift. Wonderfully sappy, tactile wine, finishing with suave, broad tannins and superb mounting persistence. A transcendent Nuits-Saint-Georges in the making: this has the fine-grained texture, nuance and dimension of a grand cru. One of the most promising wines I've tasted from this estate in a long time.

Nuits-Saint-Georges

Nuits-Saint-Georges, a renowned appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is famous for its robust, structured Pinot Noir wines with rich flavours of dark cherries, blackberries, and plums, along with earthy, spicy notes. Known for firm tannins and full-bodied character, these wines are ideal for ageing. Although lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Saint-Georges and Les Vaucrains produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine Henri Gouges, Domaine Faiveley, and Domaine Robert Chevillon, all celebrated for showcasing the unique terroir with traditional winemaking.
